Sempre quando me perguntam o que é RSS, eu sempre digo que é um E-MAIL ao contrário...
No e-mail envio um email para o servidor (gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc) de lá, o servidor envia diretamente para o destino.
No RSS eu envio um post (mensagem etc) para o servidor e o Leitor vá lá em busca a mensagem, através dos RSS reader.
Os email são direcionados aos destinhos, o RSS é público e quem vai busca-los são os leitores.
Praticamente todos software de leitura de email (outlook, thunderbird) tem a possibilidade de configurar e buscar RSS e praticamente todos os blogs e sites de notícia disponibilizam seu conteúdo por RSS.
O site RSSVOYAGE é um leitor on line de RSS que disponibiliza seus posts em 3D, ficando um resultado bem bonito (suprimindo as imagens, mas mesmo assim vale a pena).
